Full Recap
After a nightmare in which a grown, monstrous Jason drags her under the water, Pam gets a call from Nora, an old friend from her past life. The message: she may be safe for now, because “the company” farms its dirty work out to subcontractors — the two “detectives” were deniable muscle tied to the Argonaut project she and Jason fled.
Trying to rejoin the living, Pam goes bowling with Chief Levon and the town librarian Rita, who talks her into The Experience, an EST-style encounter group run by Wilhelm Richter — a guru with a manufactured name and doors chained shut. Richter singles Pam out, deduces she used to be a singer, makes her perform, then dismantles her in front of the room as someone “living behind a mask.”
The seminar's regression exercise cracks something open: flashbacks of Pam as a happy young singer, of baby Jason, of Argonaut — scientists, experiments. She screams and bolts. Richter follows with a cruel private come-on, then broadcasts it to the group the next day. Pam returns for revenge with a bowling ball, but a fellow attendee gets there first, beating Richter's face in with a baseball bat. Walking past his ruined face, she delivers the episode's thesis line: “Some of us are meant to wear masks.”
Levon, meanwhile, has questions. When “copcakes” arrive with an oddly worded ask — have the bodies of her attackers been found? — his cop instincts itch. Dog-walking teens find bear-gnawed human remains; with no county facilities he stores them in his own fridge, and examining them finds scissor blades in what's left. Someone attacked the men before the bear did.
Ending Explained
Rain, the camp parking lot, Barry and Claudette steam up their car windows — and a heavy object smashes through the rear windshield. Outside, Barry finds Grace's discarded clog embedded in the glass and, past it in the dark, a deformed, teenage-sized figure. Jason is alive, growing fast, and the show just made Grace part of the horror.
