Full Recap
Pam, cleaning up the previous episode's mess, falls into Levon's arms — then leaves his bed at dawn carrying the guilt of a woman who knows what she is. The camp itself gets a fresh start: owner John Christy hires a vanload of hippies, and their open-heartedness is exactly what grieving Grace needs. Their acceptance even gives her the spine to refuse the newly pious Claudette's apologies.
Harmony (Manon Gage), the group's self-styled medium, holds a séance that goes past performance: she channels Valerie, speaking to Grace with knowledge only her mother could have — then locks onto Pam and channels Valerie's fury (“She's not yours, get it?”), hands at Pam's throat before she snaps out of it.
Willow (Oona Roche), a hitchhiker separated from the group, wanders the woods, is stalked by something, and steps into one of Crazy Ralph's bear traps. Jason emerges from the trees toward her screams. Cut to black.
Pam, rattled, learns one of the John Doe bodies took a large blade to the skull — she takes the matching machete and throws it into Crystal Lake. The investigation tightens around her: the phony rental company traces back to the conglomerate Bellflower, and the car's renter was a dishonorably discharged special-ops soldier gone private sector. Levon's own history surfaces too — a Newark cop who took the fall for misconduct during the city's riots.
Ending Explained
Deputy Dorfman, drunk and eager to one-up the chief in front of Rita, goes to Ralph's meat shack in the rain and finds what's hanging there: Willow's body, trussed up and skinned like a deer. Whether Jason killed her — Ralph certainly didn't — is the question the episode leaves bleeding.
Friday the 13th Callbacks & Easter Eggs
- The title borrows Part V: A New Beginning — and just like that film, the “new beginning” at the camp is drenched in irony.
- Crazy Ralph's bear traps are era-appropriate and ominous; in the 1980 film Ralph is the one warning everyone the camp has a death curse.
- The camp owner being a Christy connects to Steve Christy, the doomed owner in the 1980 film.
